Intakes
September (main, applications open February through May), February (smaller, applications open August through October). Stipendium Hungaricum applies in January for the following academic year. AECS recommends starting 8–10 months ahead for self-funded routes; 11–13 months for Stipendium Hungaricum.
Hungary has the lowest cost of living of any EU member state for international students. EUR 300–500 / month covers accommodation, food, transport, and basics in Budapest; outside Budapest you can manage on EUR 250–400. Students can work 24 hours per week during semester and full-time during breaks. Hungarian minimum wage is HUF 266,800 / month (about EUR 690) in 2024.
